The Head of the Serengeti

Today was another good day, despite feeling a little achy (although this is probably due to the fact that we’re spending most of our time in the land rovers on bumpy, uneven roads).  The Chief Warden of the Serengeti named Georg Mtahiko led us around on foot in the park.  He took time out of his busy day to escort us around on foot and answer our questions.  I even shook his hand!  The head of Serengeti National Park!  Needless to say it was pretty sweet and I felt pretty lucky.

Today it rained a lot on us.  A spotted hyena crossed our path on the road in the rain.  It was much bigger than I thought it would be, which was surprising.  Today we also visited the Serengeti Wildlife Research Institute, which is apparently the oldest of its kind in the world.  The lectures were pretty boring, but it was still cool visiting that bastion of science in the sea of the Serengeti.
