Today is Halloween! We celebrated by dressing up, having caramel apples and drinking alcohol (and playing lots of cards). We also had some caramel apples, which Barbara Wye helped make. They were delicious and I think everyone in camp liked them! I was a Spartan Warrior for Halloween; Leonidas aka Gerard Butler with a drawn in 8 pack and everything! I made a Spartan helmet out of my Underarmor hat and duct tape. It looked pretty good and really dorky! I wore my Maasai bushknife on my belt, left side, shirtless with my shuka as a cape and chaco sandals; also Bob’s wicker basket top as a shield-buckler. It was a nice break up form the monotony of life here at Zion.
Other than that it was a pretty normal day. I did two interviews at a Boma quite far away from camp. They were, again, very welcoming and willing to answer my questions. I even set up a time to go back and cook with them! So on Tuesday at 11:00AM I will do that! It will be nice to break away from just interviews and try to ‘fill in some of the cracks’ in my research with some authentic participant observation. I am getting ever more excited to write my paper when we get back to Dar!
