Field Itinerary

Here is my up and coming itinerary for the next 42 days!!

Sunday, October 7 – November something…  :

Day 1: Arrive to Arusha from Dar for hotel accommodation (Outpost lodge) inclusive of dinner, breakfast.

Day 2 – Day 3: Drive to Engikaret Masai village (45kms out of Arusha) for 2days and 2nights of cultural, community based program, inclusive of Camping accommodation FB, all activities: –

– Introduction to community, people, elders and Nereteti community projects.

– Tour of the Bomas.

– Social and family structure, division of labour, diet.

– Indigenous knowledge and oral history (“Hadithi”).

– Health care systems with medicinal plant walking tour, visit to traditional healing “clinic” (Orpul) and goat sacrifice.

– Herding animals.

– Evening dancing (Esoto).

– Beading workshop.

– Discussion group.

Day 4: Drive from Engikaret to Lake Manyara national park with Lunch boxes for a half day of game drive. Then to Mto wa mbu village for camping accommodation, inclusive of dinner, breakfast and lunch boxes for the 5th day to Lake Manyara.

Day 5: Lake Manyara national park for full day of game drives with picnic lunch. Guest house accommodation in Karatu town, inclusive of dinner, breakfast and lunch boxes for the 6th day to Serengeti.

Day 6 to 9: Serengeti National park, Camping accommodation FB in Seronera inclusive of dinners, breakfasts, tea and coffee breaks and either lunches or lunch boxes.

Day 10: Drive from Serengeti to Tarangire Zion camp via karatu town for hot lunch.

Day 11 to 35: In and around Tarangire national park, staying at Zion, FB Camping accommodation inclusive of all dinners, breakfasts, tea and coffee breaks and lunches.

Day 36: Drive from Tarangire Zion to Karatu town for hot lunch and tours at Gibb’s farm lodge. Accommodation in Karatu town, inclusive of dinner, breakfast and lunch boxes for the 37th day to Laetoli.

Day 37: Day trip with lunch boxes to Laetoli. FB camping accommodation in Ngorongoro simba campsite, inclusive of dinner, breakfast and lunch boxes for the 38th day to Oldupai and the crater.

Day 38: Day trip to Oldupai gorge then to Ngorongoro crater with lunch boxes. Camping accommodation in Ngorongoro simba campsite, inclusive of dinner, breakfast and lunch boxes for the 39th day to Eyasi/Natron.

Day 39: Drive from Ngorongoro to Eyasi or to Natron for lunch. FB camping accommodation, inclusive of dinner, breakfast, tea and coffee break.  (If decided to go to Natron and want to climb Oldonyo Lengai then this day at midnight we do the climb and descend the next day early morning).

Day 40: Eyasi Arch Or Natron with hot lunch at the camp. FB camping accommodation, inclusive of lunch, dinner, tea and coffee break and Breakfast. (if climbed oldonyo Lengai then the day will start much later as students will need to sleep/rest until lunch time)

Day 41: From Eyasi/Natron to Arusha via Karatu for hot lunch. Hotel Accommodation in Arusha (Outpost lodge), inclusive of dinner and breakfast.

Day 42: Chartered bus to Dar es Salaam.

 I can’t wait!
